Dear Flying High Families,
I would like to welcome all new Flying High members and thank everyone who has been involved in our programs over the years! My name is Christine Deck and I am the sole owner of Flying High. Flying High opened in June of 1991 in a tiny building in Brookfield. Through word of mouth, we have grown from 30 students to over 700 in the fourteen-plus years we have been teaching!
I believe the success of the gym is due largely to Flying High's beliefs, love for the sport and love for children. I have always found gymnastics to be an absolutely amazing sport. Gymnastics can be deemed amazing simply by watching the skills performed. I, however, see so many other incredible things gymnastics can bring to a child's life.
Every child should experience the thrill of accomplishment from hard work. At Flying High, there are often teachers jumping up and down for ANY accomplishment. Even small accomplishments are BIG here! If your child finds a skill/ task challenging, she should leave feeling extremely proud of herself once she has succeeded! The teachers will do their best to teach every child the joy of perseverance and success!
Gymnastics and Cheer can be tough sports, both physically and mentally challenging. Children are often frustrated. I have done my best to create an environment wherein we acknowledge and deal with frustration in an encouraging manner. Working through frustration is a life skill that children will carry with them into adulthood.
Our team members, as well as those in our tots, recreational and cheerleading programs, are learning teamwork every day in our gym. As with everything in life, there are strengths and weaknesses in everyone. I believe in teaching children the importance of cheering for a friend's successes as well as encouraging him/her in times of frustration. It is especially important to me that every child absorbs these manners even at the most difficult of times. Children showing enthusiasm for someone who has accomplished something not yet mastered can be as difficult as holding back the urge to boast their ease at skills while their peers are struggling. I am in awe daily at the way the children in our gym support each other.
I would, once more, like to thank you for your continued support. I hope you are enjoying the little things that make Flying High so special to both your child and me. If you have any comments, please feel free to contact me anytime by phone at 708/352-3099 or by e-mail at chris@flyinghighgym.com! I would love to hear any thoughts you have on our program.
Sincerely,
Chris
